Sentence accuracy

[edit]

Section: Work in China Last lines:

As Dean of Cheeloo, Struthers moved the medical school to Fuzhou in 1948 for a year due to a fear of a Communist attack, He left for Canada in 1950 after returning when Shanghai fell to the Communists.

It is my understanding that Shanghai fell to the Communists many months before October 1, 1949, when Mao declared the People's Republic of China. Dr. Struther's departure from China is likely documented in A Doctor Remembers. However, if accuracy is unknown, please let me know. I'm a personal friend of Dr. Struther's daughter, Mary who will be celebrating her 97th birthday this week. She has studied her parental history in detail and documented her mother's life story for her descendants. Mary will know exactly when her Dad left China.

You may want to consider the possibility of rewording the line I've quoted. I think is should refer to after Mao declared the PRC, not after the fall of Shanghai.

Thank you for your consideration. L. Sun 2603:800C:4640:1EDC:D51E:EEC4:DE7E:F8AE (talk) 07:14, 4 June 2023 (UTC)[reply]
