The history of Maywood Racetrack in Melrose Park IL
[edit]Woefully inadequate. My parents owned the private club for harness racing until around 1946, when gambling became legalized in Illinois. My parents refused to sell. My mother used to get threatening calls Mrs X, you have 2 lovely childen, how would you like to keep them that way, how would you like to keep them at all. My parents walked away and never deeded it over to anyone. Good old Tony Arcardo, head of the Chicago Mafia. No-one paid them anything nor did they sign any deed on the property. Just thought you might like to know the TRUE history of the race track. Provided by their 82 year old daughter. I used to play with Marie Arcardo as a child, she was always welcome to our home, but I was never allowed to go to hers. 2600:6C44:27F:6CEA:F941:486D:7359:1863 (talk) 19:10, 3 January 2024 (UTC)
