Merge

[edit]

Please look at the merger rules before attempting to merge 2 articles. Appropriate discussions must first occur in order for the process to begin. Please do not ignore wikipedia's rules!(sorry about deletion of merge request) Rhumidian (talk) 10:19, 25 May 2015 (UTC)[reply]

NP. I know those rules — they also say that "If the need for a merge is obvious, individual editors can be bold and simply do it." The need seemed obvious to me because the article doesn't even make a claim of significance, but I respect your revert. QVVERTYVS (hm?) 10:25, 25 May 2015 (UTC)[reply]
Like User:Lfstevens, I think this page should be merged into the article about the university. Notability of the faculty has not been established at all. QVVERTYVS (hm?) 10:19, 25 May 2015 (UTC)[reply]
User:Qwertyus I think that this university is notable. If you look at the pages in bulgarian there is clear evidence as to the significance of the institution. I think that each department of the institution should have its own page, but i agree that additional information is required. We will need some English-Bulgarian editors to do that such as User:Powerfox. I think that the articles corresponding to the Technical University of Varna should not be removed.Rhumidian (talk) 10:27, 25 May 2015 (UTC)[reply]
I'm not doubting the university's notability, but the faculty's. (Is there a typo in your last sentence?) QVVERTYVS (hm?) 10:28, 25 May 2015 (UTC)[reply]
I apologise there is a typo. But on the notability of the faculty, you would think that it would be significant for a technical college to also have a significant faculty of engineering? This is just my thought process. It is like saying MIT Media Lab is an insignificant part of MIT; Am I wrong?Rhumidian (talk) 10:32, 25 May 2015 (UTC)[reply]
No, because when the MIT Media Lab gets a new director, the Media Lab gets a piece in the New York Times that discusses its achievements (and faults) at some length. I don't see anything of the sort either here or on bg:Машинно-технологичен_факултет_(Технически_университет-Варна). QVVERTYVS (hm?) 10:44, 25 May 2015 (UTC)[reply]
(It's more like the MIT School of Humanities, Arts, and Social Sciences in this regard.) QVVERTYVS (hm?) 10:57, 25 May 2015 (UTC)[reply]
Hahhah, very funny :P. But seriously, i think that this page, in it current state should stay. We should keep the merge template but should postpone the actual merge. The article should be secondary sourced and Copy edited. If the article fails to meet wikipedia standards after a certain period of time, then we can put up a final discussion of merger, which should last 1 month. Then merge it, or remove the merge. Is that ok?Rhumidian (talk) 11:04, 25 May 2015 (UTC)[reply]
I say merge it, and should sufficient content and sourcing later develop and the main article become too fat, consider splitting it out. Lfstevens (talk) 00:16, 26 May 2015 (UTC)[reply]
I am beginning to think so then. Merge the article. I think the more aggressive approach is better.Rhumidian (talk) 20:43, 26 May 2015 (UTC)[reply]
