Merging

I suggest that this article be merged into either Gender studies or Women's studies (I don't have much of an opinion on which one, but I had to put one down in the merge tag, so I used Gender studies.) The idea of "feminist studies" seems to exist as an undergrad major at a very few institutions, and otherwise doesn't really seem distinct from women's studies or gender studies. Thus there may not even be very much content to merge -- maybe this should just redirect to one or the other article. Catamorphism 19:22, 19 May 2006 (UTC)

As far as I can tell, gender studies and women's studies are academic fields (with some overlap with each other) and feminist studies is the name for an undergrad major that incorporates elements of both. Catamorphism 06:16, 22 May 2006 (UTC)

In that case should they all be merged? Is there something that we may have overlooked that may warrant that they remain as separate articles? I'm personally not a huge fan of mergers but if they are as similar as you say then perhaps we should go ahead and do it. That being said someone may still cry foul. Sjschen 06:37, 22 May 2006 (UTC)

Well, that's why I asked about it on the talk page. I think gender studies and women's studies are distinct because among other things, they refer to different historical eras of thought about gender. But I don't think "feminist studies" is a significant, distinct phenomenon on its own. If someone disagrees, they can say so here. But if they don't do so soon, I'll merge this with Women's studies. I think you're basically correct—it's an issue of naming at some institutions, but not particularly widespread, and the exact same things called "feminist studies" at some places are more commonly called one of the other terms at most other institutions. --Delirium 05:52, 6 September 2006 (UTC)

Merge, move or delete

This article is about programs in Southwestern University & Stanford University. Teh subjet of the programs overlaps, as the other editors have pointed out with Gender Studies & women's Studies - its name seems to be the only difference. There is no new content in this artcile for gender studies and I suggest it is used to redirect to Women's Studies or is listed for AfD. In its current state, advertising programs in Stanford and Southwestern Universities this article is in violation of policy--Cailil 02:34, 17 February 2007 (UTC)

Not only that, the entire article is a copyright violation, as paragraphs are lifted wholesale from those institutions. I'll fix. --Lukobe 21:21, 20 February 2007 (UTC)
