Merger

[edit]

If you've followed the "discuss" link here to talk about the merger proposal, please note that the discussion is actually taking place at Talk:Ford Cargo (Europe)#Merger proposal. – Kieran T (talk) 14:51, 1 December 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Demerger

[edit]

This entry results from the misguided (say I...) merger in 2011 of two entries about two trucks that had little in common beyond the name. They are or were both trucks and they are or were both made by Ford, but they are or were made in different continents and in different centuries. Since 2011, beyond a large amount of tinkering round the edges, no one had liked to contribute significantly to the merged article. I suspect that's at least partly because it's hard to know where to start trying to disentangle the strands. How do people feel about a demerger? (Subject, of course, to a suitable disambiguation page.)

Failing that, I guess someone needs to take a deep breath and sort out the chronology. It would be nice to find more sources before attempting that, but there's a bit of a shortage of usable sources on trucks unless (as I hope) someone reading this knows differently. What is meant by "North American Version" ?

[edit]

At the top of the Ford Cargo page is stated: ″Missing technical information and information about North American version″

What does this mean? We just committed to purchase a "1986 CF7000" in the USA. So far as I can tell, they are all made in Brazil. This PDF is a scan of a Ford document. Pages 4 and 6 of the document would imply there is only one option for the location of manufacture.

There is a tremendous amount of obsolete data available from browsing the files at https://www.dtnaecomponents.com/DTNAHardwareComponents/FordSterling/Ford/DataBooks/

Apologies if this edit is inappropriate; this is my first contribution to Wikipedia. Krista Mae K (talk) 00:04, 16 December 2021 (UTC)[reply]
