Fort Ethan Allen

[edit]

During the Korean war and from November 6, 1951, through the fall of 1952, the fort was home to the 125th Aircraft Control and Warning Squadron (125th AC&W), which had been formed in St. Louis at Jefferson Barracks as an Air National Guard unit during the January-February time of 1951. That Unit was activated into the USAF on November 1, 1951, as part of the 32nd Air Division then headquartered in Syracuse NY. Its mission: erecting and operating a radar station that would scrutinize "blind spots" not seen by the larger more permanent facilities, e.g., St. Albans. Equipment was delivered, along with tech manuals, the work was accomplished--tower and ground installation--and the station was operational by April of that year. In July, orders came down to disband, and 180 airmen and officers were fanned out to other units to complete their duty tour. 2601:646:9100:9930:1DA5:7760:D431:815E (talk) 03:18, 8 November 2022 (UTC)[reply]
