[edit]Rjensen - Good job giving Gates his due. Some comments:
- I don't think Gates could be considered a philanthropist. He didn't have enough of his own money to give away. "Trustee" of several major institutions would be more apt, or just stick with Rockefeller's chief "philanthropic advisor," which is how he spent most of his adult life. - Rockefeller could not possibly have had in wealth "about the same as the entire nation's GDP"(!). Surely you meant something else. - I would think about "designed" as a word choice for the latter foundations you mentioned.
BTW - if Bill Gates had an advisor named Frank Rockefeller, I would probably become one of those people thinking there is so much more to this world than appears, like wondering what Trilateral Commission "really" does.--DocGov 03:06, 13 February 2006 (UTC)
- philanthropist = specialist in giving away $. Gates invented the field! Nevins says an audit of JDR on 12-31-1901 gave him $200 million in wealth. Historical Stats US says US GNP in 1902 was $22 BILLION. So you're very much correct! Rjensen 03:36, 13 February 2006 (UTC)
