Merge with 1918 - 33 article[edit]

Shouldn't this article be merged with the Free State of Prussia (1918-1933). Are two years of existence enough for an own article? Is it realy a different State compared with Prussia before 1933 or rather the same after a coup d'etat (Preussenschlag) ? HerkusMonte (talk) 07:24, 30 July 2008 (UTC)[reply]

This was a transformation of the previous entity to a different political entity just as Weimar Germany transformed into Nazi Germany. Under Nazism, Prussia was no longer democratic, and abandoned previous political institutions. The Free State became modelled on Nazi lines like Germany as a whole was. After Hindenburg died, Hitler moved to centralize power, and Nazi control over Prussia allowed the state itself to be dismantled by 1935. More information should be provided for this page of course as it is too small now. Other articles exist that are small that require more work. I think this article should be considered a "Start" article for now. More time must be given to allow more information to be added.--R-41 (talk) 20:51, 4 August 2008 (UTC)[reply]

I agree. I'd add that Prussia continued to formally exist until 1947, even if there was no de facto Prussian administration any longer. It even expanded its territory, annexing Lübeck in 1937. And if one is going to make a break, the coup d'etat of 1932 is more important than Hitler becoming chancellor (or the Enabling Act), I think. john k (talk) 14:05, 24 September 2010 (UTC)[reply]
