Derivation
[edit]I'm wondering if this term could be derived from or related to the Norwegian (Scandinavian?) expression "Gale Mathias" (http://no.wikipedia.org/wiki/Gale_Mathias). The expression literally means "crazy Matthew" and is used to describe spoken gibberish. Gale Mathias was a 16th century priest who was tried for being outspoken. Birth
