Contradiction

Hunter died in 1843, and the picture is dated c. 1840; Mary Swainson described "a bald head, circular spectacles and beaming eyes, and as exactly resembling Mr Pickwick of Charles Dickens The Pickwick Papers," but the image clearly depicts him with a reasonable amount of hair. Was he only very suddenly "bald" for the last three years of his life? The image and the description don't fit; possibly the image date is incorrect?
