Peer review

[edit]

This is a very impressive first article, although we typically wait a bit longer before considering pages for GA status. I have taken the liberty of editing it brutally! I hope that my edit summaries are informative; please also note the edits made by another editor before me. I think that the formatting and use of the taxobox etc., as well as the organization and quality of information provided make for an excellent start to the page. A few general comments. Please see Wikipedia talk:WikiProject Aquarium Fishes#Howto issues for a discussion of why, as an encyclopedia, we avoid writing pages about aquarium fish in a how-to format. Please also note the correct use of capitalization, particularly in section headings. For the list of references, it would be helpful, instead of displaying the URLs, to provide a short explanatory title, as in the second example here. Always try to link to as many other pages here as possible (within reason, of course). The use of n-dashes can be helpful. I hope that helps! Please don't hesitate to ask me if you have questions. --Tryptofish (talk) 17:20, 26 April 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Move?

[edit]
I fixed the empty page redir. Mangoe (talk) 21:14, 26 April 2009 (UTC)[reply]
Just fyi, the genus name is always capitalized and the species name uncapitalized. Not just here at Wikipedia, but in scientific nomenclature generally. --Tryptofish (talk) 23:36, 26 April 2009 (UTC)[reply]

About GA

[edit]

It was a perfectly understandable rookie mistake, but I'd like to suggest withdrawing this page from GA consideration. --Tryptofish (talk) 21:36, 2 May 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Why? If it makes it in, cool. If not, no harm no foul right?DrewSmith 00:24, 3 May 2009 (UTC)[reply]
Just my opinion, but it's not near to being ready (plenty of good article are not Good Articles), and the harm could be wasting the time of reviewers, who might then look less favorably on subsequent nominees from this project. But good about DYK! --Tryptofish (talk) 18:11, 3 May 2009 (UTC)[reply]
Ah. I see. So ow do I withdraw it?DrewSmith 23:01, 3 May 2009 (UTC)[reply]
I haven't looked into how to do it, but I assume you would just self-revert what you did to list it. --Tryptofish (talk) 23:13, 3 May 2009 (UTC)[reply]
Wouldn't that revert everything posted after it?DrewSmith 23:15, 3 May 2009 (UTC)[reply]
Offhand, I don't know. --Tryptofish (talk) 17:37, 4 May 2009 (UTC)[reply]
I looked at the nominations page. I think all you have to do is delete the one line where it is listed (no one has started reviewing it, so that's not a problem), and delete the tag from this talk page. (About reverting all subsequent edits, no. Take a look at the history tab on any page, and note how you can (usually) undo past edits selectively. If you didn't do it already, I'd suggest you take a close look at the edit history of this article, and re-read in that regard what I wrote about peer review, above in this talk.) --Tryptofish (talk) 21:45, 4 May 2009 (UTC)[reply]
