Brede Giant

[edit]

This is all very amusing no doubt, but to warrant inclusion in this article it really needs something more than references to unsupported local newspaper features and popular literature in order to be of verifiable tradition. I don't mean that it needs to be proved historically that Oxenbridge was the Giant or ate children. I mean that where the article speaks of a "tradition" that it was so, or of 17th century tales relating to the early 16th century, there really does need to be a direct reference to what these ancient sources demonstrating the existence of that tradition. Otherwise it is nothing more than 20-year-old semi-sensational gossip used to fill the pages of local press, which, as we know, is notoriously susceptible to the inclusion of concocted nonsense for the benefit of aspirant sub-editors.

Therefore, will someone please supply some real evidence that anything of the kind was actually being said or thought during the 17th century or before, or else let this section be removed to some other article, if it can be thought to warrant it. Eebahgum (talk) 13:27, 27 August 2019 (UTC)[reply]
