Notability

[edit]

Godspy has been covered in the Seattle Times, Dallas Morning News, Houston Chronicle, New Jersey Record, just to name a few. A couple of those have now been included as sources (actually they were deleted along with the last version of the article due to editorial haste - I will reinsert them shortly). In fact, in the Houston Chronicle it was covered in a section called "New & Notable". The magazine features major writers who have achieved serious note in other areas of publishing, such as its editor Austen Ivereigh. It also has as theological advisor and contributior the internationally recognized theologian, scientist and author Lorenzo Albacete who is also a contributor to the Italian periodical Tempi, The New Yorker, Slate, and The New Republic and has been frequently interviewed in the major media, including on CNN, ABC Fox and on EWTN. (Now I'm just touching on a couple aspects of the notability of the publication and its writers...I could go on quite extensively).

As to advertising, it is nothing of the sort and is comparable to the article on Slate (magazine), which is a similar (but secular) type of publication. Mamalujo (talk) 21:58, 26 March 2008 (UTC)[reply]

If it has been covered in so many reliable sources, could you perhaps cite some of the coverage in the article? Thanks. J Milburn (talk) 21:59, 26 March 2008 (UTC)[reply]
Actually, I had cited to the New Jersey Record and to the Houston Chronicle in the earlier version of the article, but the hasty editors deleted it, despite my "hang on" tag. I've readded some of the deleted material and will continue to do so.Mamalujo (talk) 22:16, 26 March 2008 (UTC)[reply]
A search of the Houston Chronicle archives shows no mention of "Godspy". Toddst1 (talk) 23:10, 26 March 2008 (UTC)[reply]
You are incorrect. If you had been conscientious enough to check the archives before making another false statement, you would have found it here. The ordinary search only returns stories from the last 7 days. Mamalujo (talk) 23:55, 26 March 2008 (UTC)[reply]
I stand corrected. Toddst1 (talk) 23:59, 26 March 2008 (UTC)[reply]

[edit]

Perhaps someone with a little more technically savvy than me can upload and ad a screenshot image of the site to the infobox. Mamalujo (talk) 22:44, 26 March 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Verification

[edit]

A quick check on the website shows that the Dallas Morning News website doesn't verify the assertions attributed to that source. Requesting the quote or a link before tagging {{failed verification}} Toddst1 (talk) 22:45, 26 March 2008 (UTC)[reply]

I moved the tag to failed verification. Toddst1 (talk) 23:14, 26 March 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Also, are you sure of the title of the publication "New Jersey Record"? I coudn't even find the publication. Toddst1 (talk) 22:49, 26 March 2008 (UTC)[reply]

There is a Record newspaper in New Jersey, in Bergen County. See http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/The_Record_(Bergen_County) I don't believe it has ever used "New Jersey" in its title.Bronxpolwatcher (talk) 07:04, 23 March 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Well, online editions of newspapers usually only make the last week or two of the paper available. If you have access to Lexis/Nexis or a similar news database, it can be easily found. Otherwise, it will require a trip to the library. I assure you the cites are valid. And the first cite with the tag seeking a quote actually HAS a quote from the article.
I also did a search on the Dallas Morning News' site and although the article where they made it their site of the week wasn't accessable from their site, I did find it in their list of "sites of the week" here. Also, The Record is listed in my database and cited as the New Jersey Record, I believe its formal name may just be "The Record". I believe this is its site here. But like many papers you probably have to be a subscriber or pay to access its archives of older articles.Mamalujo (talk) 23:20, 26 March 2008 (UTC)[reply]

On Hiatus?

[edit]

The magazine's Website (www.godspy.com) doesn't look like it's been updated since early 2009. The publication seems to be on hiatus.Bronxpolwatcher (talk) 07:04, 23 March 2010 (UTC)[reply]
