Politics and government of KeralaGovernment of Kerala — Proposing an exclusive-independent article for "Government of Kerala”. I suggest the existing title be renamed to "Government of Kerala”. Politics is considerably little focus than government and obviously that can we include under new title as a section. Please look at other Indian states articles also (eg. Government of Karnataka). We can later make this (under the new title) as a first class article providing lots of information about Kerala Government. Thanks. —Avinesh Jose (talk) 08:41, 20 December 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Opening sentence[edit]

I can't believe I actually have to explain my reason for changes for the sake of one editor, but here goes. The opening sentence is a run on sentence and so I split it into two. Furthermore, using "who" right after "Constitution" makes it a pronoun without a proper antecedent (I think, I could be wrong). But more importantly, we don't want an opening sentence that is 36 words long. The proper length for a sentence is 15 to 20 words. --vi5in[talk] 16:07, 26 August 2008 (UTC)[reply]

If more editors support your pov, I have no probs, do it. But sorry, here I am not. I’m quite sure that this peer reviewed article is in the watch-list’s of many editors. --Avinesh Jose  T  07:00, 27 August 2008 (UTC)[reply]
It's not POV. It's called English Grammar. --vi5in[talk] 00:12, 30 August 2008 (UTC)[reply]
See Wikipedia:POV#English_language, not grammar. --Avinesh  T  07:05, 30 August 2008 (UTC)[reply]
I had no idea that English Language was separate from English Grammar. Regarding the use of 'who', it is a relative pronoun which marks a clause within a larger sentence. Why are you taking this personally? You're simply reverting out of spite now. --vi5in[talk] 22:41, 30 August 2008 (UTC)[reply]
Please do not repeat those links (eg. President of India) and change wordings, which are already in the article, see the ‘Governor’ section. Note that it is a peer reviewed article that is edited by many reputable editors. Please do not blindly push unnecessary ‘style’ of editing. --Avinesh  T  04:33, 1 September 2008 (UTC)[reply]
One again, it's not 'style', or 'pov' or 'whatever word you catches your fancy today'. It's called English Grammar. Thanks. --vi5in[talk] 17:42, 2 September 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Comments
  • Various thing in lead like "vote of no confidence", "snap election", etc. isn't in the prose. The lead should only be summary of the entire article.
  • Various other grammatical and MOS errors. Suggesting to submit the article for copy editing here WP:GOCE/REQ.
  • The two main article in the "Kerala Council of Ministers" subsections need to be merged in a single template.
  • "It consists of the governor, the chief minister and the Council of Ministers." – Not sure why Council and Ministers are capitalized.
  • "Like in other Indian states ........ for the Governor's approval." – Entire paragraph is uncited, when various statements like "The executive authority is headed by the Chief ...", "The present Chief Minister is Pinarayi Vijayan...", etc. require citation.
  • The only citation in "The governor is appointed ..... exercise or their own opinion." paragraph doesn't cites the whole text.
  • The current governor and powers of governor needs citation.
  • The only citation in "Legislative branch" section doesn't cite the whole text.
  • "152 CD blocks" – what is CD?
  • The list of departments need citation(s)
  • "State insignias" section – I doubt whether this is related to "Government of Kerala" or not. And again, it needs various other sources.
  • "When the kingdoms of Cochin..." → "When the Kingdom of Cochin..."
  • "Elections" sections is again entirely unsourced.
  • The "Politics" section is also unsourced, when various statements like
    • "The political alliance has strongly stabilised and, with rare exceptions, most of the coalition partners maintain loyalty to the alliance ...."
    • "In terms of individual parties, the state has strong leanings towards socialism and thus Communist parties have made strong inroads in Kerala. ...."
    • "The Bharatiya Janata Party (the Party that currently leads the Government of India) is also active in Kerala, but is not part ...."
    • "The CPI(M) led LDF did a clean sweep of 11–0 over UDF and NDA in ...."
    • "Other popular regional parties are: (entire list) ...."
  • "Awards and Honours" section – I doubt whether this is related to "Government of Kerala" or not.
  • I suggest adding Alt text to every image
  • Although not necessary, please consider some expert studies on this topic.
Final assessment
  • I am currently failing this nomination, majorly due to lack of citations. Feel free to re-nominate after addressing all the issues. Thanks! – Kavyansh.Singh (talk) 10:15, 5 August 2021 (UTC)[reply]
