Comments
[edit]This page was created because of the information found in Russell Conwell. It also seems historically relevant.
Expanded the page with additional cited information - it's definitely a significant institution historically. The legal name of the church is "Grace Baptist Church" and it calls itself "Grace Baptist Temple" and is no longer in the city of Philadelphia so the article name should probably be one of those -- "Grace Baptist Temple of Philadelphia" is a different and unrelated congregation. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 108.2.0.233 (talk) 13:31, 2 November 2015 (UTC)
Lede needs changes
[edit]Lede
[edit]Grace Baptist Church is the legal name of Grace Baptist Temple, an American Baptist congregation founded in North Philadelphia in 1874. Under the leadership of Russell H. Conwell, the congregation became one of the largest in the country and was the parent of many other institutions, most notably Temple University. The congregation is now located in the suburb of Blue Bell and is not affiliated with an Independent Baptist of the same name located in the Bridesburg section of the city.
Corrections needed
[edit]American Baptist could refer to different denominations back at the founding and needs clarification. Blue Bell should be Blue Bell, Pennsylvania. Blue Bell is a census-designated place (CDP) in Whitpain Township in Montgomery County, Pennsylvania.--DThomsen8 (talk) 20:25, 28 April 2016 (UTC)
Later work
[edit]I will work more later. Other editors are fee to continue. more inline citations are much needed. Distinguishing between the building in Conwell's day and the congregation in Blue Bell is important. Perhaps more than one article may be needed.--DThomsen8 (talk) 20:35, 28 April 2016 (UTC)
