A fact from Grand Tower Island appeared on Wikipedia's Main Page in the Did you know column on 12 November 2013 (check views). The text of the entry was as follows:
Did you know... that Grand Tower Island is located on the "wrong" side of the Mississippi River?
I'm not certain that I understand why it's on the "wrong" side. This section is a little hard to follow especially as this is part of the DYK. I think it's saying that the island is part of one state, but is geographically closer to the other?Mister Mayhem (talk) 22:21, 12 November 2013 (UTC)[reply]
To answer the question on my talk page, I would put something in the article about the boundary being drawn between the states and that according to the "line down the middle of the river" that the Island should be part of Illinois, but is still part of Missouri because the township predates the border distinction? Also, "wrong" is used in quotes---but reading the source I didn't see that being quoted in the source.Mister Mayhem (talk) 19:35, 13 November 2013 (UTC)[reply]
