The Hatton Arms[edit]

I have raised a citation against this sentence about the alleged foundation of the Hatton Arms public house:

According to legend it became a pub in 1672 when the licence was granted to a negro servant who saved the life of Sir Christopher Hatton, Elizabeth 1st chancellor, who lived in nearby Kirby Hall.

It reads somewhat anachronistically - Sir Christopher Hatton died 1591, Elizabeth I in 1603, so the nameless negro would have been an extremely old man to be become a publican in 1672! (Perhaps 1672 is a typo.)Cloptonson (talk) 18:00, 13 June 2022 (UTC)[reply]

Who was Kenneth Collins?[edit]

Famously a man called Kenneth Collins lived here for most of his life.

This sentence at the end of the article lacks citation or any explanation of historic interest, or a date to his lifespan. Was he someone very long lived? It is rather meaningless, considering that large proportions of the rural population have lived in the same village or town for most of their lives. I will remove this unencylopaedic sentence.Cloptonson (talk) 18:07, 13 June 2022 (UTC)[reply]
