Babice
[edit]Back in 2007, a sentence about a "twin station" in Babice, Poland, was added, but there is nothing that indicates any "twin" relationship. The Polish one is just another VLF transmitter, isn't it? I'm removing that sentence, as it's not related to Grimeton. --LA2 (talk) 20:56, 29 March 2013 (UTC)
Photo
[edit]The photo is not good. The Esperanto article shows the VLF antenna much better. --Hans Eo (talk) 20:55, 9 November 2014 (UTC)
Mistaken explanation of working principle
[edit]The keying is not done by frequency shift of the generator. The "magnetic amplifier" shifts the resonant frequency of the antenna system, so that it is not radiating, when the key is in the off position. An elaborate circuit keeps the alternator frequency constant. This has nothing to do with frequency shift keying, as we know it today. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 87.176.133.171 (talk) 13:09, 1 May 2018 (UTC)
- The mistaken explanation (frequency shift) is now removed and the "resonat shift" (simplified) explained. JoergLuzern (talk) 10:21, 31 October 2023 (UTC)
Introduction gives no information
[edit]The introduction should be an adequate summary of the article (WP:LEAD). This introduction, which just quotes some UNESCO boilerplate, tells virtually nothing about the radio station: how long it operated (until WW2), what it was for (transatlantic transmission of radiotelegram traffic), how it worked (it's the last example of an Alexanderson alternator), and the fact that it is still operational. Also bullet points should not be used in an introduction, and the text in the two bullet points is completely redundant. --ChetvornoTALK 17:50, 5 June 2018 (UTC)
- "how it worked" is now explained in chapter "technical description" :-) JoergLuzern (talk) 10:22, 31 October 2023 (UTC)
New technical description
[edit]the current text has some errors, as mentioned above. Moreover, the "Schematic diagram of principles" is very generic and not Grimeton specific...
I have created a new description in German Wiki https://de.wikipedia.org/wiki/L%C3%A4ngstwellensender_Grimeton , in "Technische Beschreibung", based on historical sources. I would like to integrate this also in the English text. However, I am a German speaker. I can create a first version with the help of DeepL. But this would have to be proofread and corrected by an english speaking person. Who helps? JoergLuzern (talk) 12:12, 29 October 2023 (UTC)
New: english version is now published. English grammar check very welcome — Preceding unsigned comment added by JoergLuzern (talk • contribs) 10:18, 31 October 2023 (UTC)
