The incomprehensible ß to our target readers[edit]

@Bermicourt: Regarding that edit, the following are academic, official, or casual sources in English or German with the alternative spelling with "ss" instead of "ß":

That's fine - since you've found WP:RS that use the "ss" spelling then it's acceptable as an alternative. We just can't use the reasoning that it's incomprehensible to English readers. While I agree with you, my attempts to amend Czech or Polish names with diacritics have been met with angry opposition even though they are often spelt without them in English. That's Wikipedia for you. So feel free to go ahead and restore your edit. Bermicourt (talk) 07:22, 16 October 2023 (UTC)[reply]
