Similar formations on Earth?

[edit]

Hi. Are there similar formations of dunes here on Earth? Or any other planet for that matter? RhinoMind (talk) 06:10, 22 August 2017 (UTC)[reply]

@RhinoMind: I'm not sure; I recommend also asking the question at the science reference desk. —PaleoNeonate07:48, 22 August 2017 (UTC)[reply]
Hi. Thanks for the suggestion, maybe I will have try there, or simply find out by myself, if I ever get the time to dig something up about it. However, my questions was not posted out of personal interest only. I really think the article should put the dune formations into context somehow. RhinoMind (talk) 12:32, 22 August 2017 (UTC)[reply]
I agree, —PaleoNeonate12:51, 22 August 2017 (UTC)[reply]

the source material has some truly enormous images, and zooming in reveals more of the structure of the dunes and why they look so "blurry" in comparison to the cracked surface around them. a closeup of some dunes: https://static.uahirise.org/images/wallpaper/2880/ESP_044675_2580.jpg ( from https://www.uahirise.org/ESP_044675_2580 ) 157.131.111.42 (talk) 17:51, 22 October 2021 (UTC)[reply]
