Notability

[edit]

Even though it is not a "Public School" it is a longstanding part of the Harrisburg community since 1955. —Preceding unsigned comment added by Lead lady 77 (talkcontribs) 02:04, 22 April 2007

Perhaps some more information would make the notability clear. Where is the school? How many students are there? Etc. Please look at the draft policy WP:SCHOOL for more info. janejellyroll 02:05, 22 April 2007 (UTC)[reply]
Clarification: That policy is no longer active, but it has some good ideas on what type of information can be added to articles to clarify notability. janejellyroll 02:05, 22 April 2007 (UTC)[reply]

If the below noted schools can be listed, Harrisburg Christian should be allowed to be listed as well. Article contains location of the school. Will be edited to list approx. amount of students. <Private schools Harrisburg is home to an extensive Catholic educational system. There are nearly 40 parish-driven elementary schools and seven Catholic high schools within the region administered by the Roman Catholic Diocese of Harrisburg, including Bishop McDevitt High School. Numerous other private schools, such as the The Londonderry School and The Circle School, which is a Sudbury Model school, also operate in Harrisburg. Harrisburg Academy, founded in 1784 is one of the oldest independent college preparatory schools in the nation. The Rabbi David L. Silver Yeshiva Academy, founded in 1944, is a progressive, modern Jewish day school.>

Thank you Lead lady 77 02:18, 22 April 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Actually, the fact that "other articles exist," is an argument that should be avoided during discussions such as these (see WP:WAX). janejellyroll 02:24, 22 April 2007 (UTC)[reply]
I just took a look at one of those articles you mentioned, Bishop McDevitt High School. You might want to try altering the format of this article to match the format of that article--that is including an info box, listing notable alumni (if any exist), providing links to cited sources, and also changing from the current bullet point format. Please let me know if you have any questions. janejellyroll 02:26, 22 April 2007 (UTC)[reply]
I see you've already included the student count in the info box. janejellyroll 02:26, 22 April 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Fair enough. I will edit it to match the format. With all due respect I still believe that my argument has weight to it. Thank you, Lead lady 77 02:29, 22 April 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Wikipedia concensus is that the argument does not have weight. janejellyroll 02:30, 22 April 2007 (UTC)[reply]

With all due respect, may I ask why? Rgs, Lead lady 77 03:04, 22 April 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Take a look at WP:WAX. It explains it better than I ever could.  :) janejellyroll 03:15, 22 April 2007 (UTC)[reply]

I believe notable faculty such as one of the 1st members of the Harrisburg Horizon's qualifies a little more importance. How's the article now? Rgs, Lead lady 77 03:39, 22 April 2007 (UTC)[reply]

The article looks much better. I'm sure you've noticed that I removed the "notability" template already. I have a question though--the article currently reads: therefore evoking a challenge to the right to a controversial Education voucher. Does that mean the school is designed to challenge the right to an educational voucher? Or do you mean that the school is invoking the right to an educational voucher? janejellyroll 03:48, 22 April 2007 (UTC)[reply]

[edit]

If a person doesn't yet have a Wikipedia article (that is, they are a redlink), I would avoid listing them as a notable faculty member or alumni. janejellyroll 03:50, 22 April 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Good question - I will revise it to make more sense. Rgs, Lead lady 77 03:55, 22 April 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Oh wait,I understand ... I will change it. Lead lady 77 04:13, 22 April 2007 (UTC)[reply]
