Can anybody get a citation for this? My wife thinks I'm crazy and a "citation needed" article in Wikipedia doesn't lend much credence to my sanity. - MichaelGundlach

Both my parents referred to the first/last pieces of a loaf as "The Heel" - one parent was American, one British, and sadly they are both now deceased so I can't find out which of them taught the other where it came from.....
