What is the correct structure?
[edit]The structure shown is wrong. The two SH groups should not be there in the figure and in the formula. The sulphurs in the thioethers are donated by the cysteines in the protein, as stated in the text. The molecular weight is 618.50. See the HEC definition in the protein data bank, showing the heme before being attached to the cysteines by opening of the double bonds [1]. As I am new here, I don't know how to edit the figure.Marcellus Ubbink (talk) 19:45, 3 October 2014 (UTC)
The link in PubChem goes to the identifiers HEC or Hem. PubChem has heme c as [2]

Confusing graphic
[edit]The graphic shows two sulfhydryl groups on the heme group. It should be more clear that the sulfur atoms belong to the apoprotein: R1-S-Heme-S-R2
