It was not "Uncle" Henry Duveen who said that Europe had plenty of art and America plenty of money but his more famous nephew Joseph, later Lord Duveen. Henry Duveen's role in the history of art dealing is that within the United States he was the Duveen who was responsible for selling art and antiques to the firms first American clients in the 1870s and 1880s, which included Benjamin Altman, whose Oriental ceramic collection Henry Duveen formed, whilst at the same time selling him vast quantities of paintings by Renaissance masters and Rembrandt etc. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Stephen Conrad (talk • contribs) 21:35, 11 August 2015 (UTC)[reply]
