Prep and occurrence
[edit]I do not know much about how this material is prepared nor its behavior. The article by Denmark states that it is a strained ring. By implication it would not a major component from equilibration and would be surprising if it forms in the environment. --Smokefoot (talk) 15:36, 18 July 2018 (UTC)
- I once learned in a presentation by Michael A. Brook that D4 is the energetically most favorable cyclic dimethylsiloxane. This fact is also stated in his book (Brook, M. A.: Silicon in Organic, Organometallic and Polymer Chemistry; Wiley: New York, 2000, ISBN 0-471-19658-4), but I don't have access to it anymore. --Leyo 16:19, 18 July 2018 (UTC)
