Overview

I noticed that there was no article regarding the recording, so I made one since it's a very important piece of history. Jonas Vinther (talk) 17:53, 3 April 2014 (UTC)

Lead reformulation

The second section of the article lead needs reformulation. I'm not very good at long-reformulation, so if anyone would be kind enough to do it, thanks so much. Jonas Vinther (talk) 20:04, 28 May 2014 (UTC)

Since no one cared to do it, I did it myself as best I could. Jonas Vinther (talk) 14:22, 13 June 2014 (UTC)

Important notice while editing the conversation itself

Hi everyone. I'm Jonas Vinther, I speak Danish, Swedish, Norwegian, German, and English. I'm the creator and overwhelmingly the largest contributor to this article. I'd like to notify people who intend to edit the conversation about a few things:

1. You should not reformulate or change any words. There is many translating's in English, but this one contains no synonyms: it's exactly what Hitler, Mannerheim, or the unidentified voice in the background said. Since this recording is associated with Hitler and is an extraordinary window in understanding how Hitler dealt with his partners, it will, probably, be changed to a more preferred modern version. I, having spent hours writing and translating the conversation, will, of course, monitor the page, especially regarding any edits in the conversation section.

2. If you edit the conversation, only correct or change common mistakes like comma, hyphen, period, grammar, and so forth. If there is any sentences that doesn't quite makes sense, you should not edit it, because then it's a pronunciation mistake by Hitler or Mannerheim, and should therefore remain as it is.

3. Lastly, do not make the common mistake and change: "this I would have deemed possible" to: "this I would have deemed impossible". The latter is probably what Hitler meant to say, and makes perfectly good sense if you read the start conversation, and also as grammar. But, it's not what Hitler said. Hitler said: "this I would have deemed possible". And yes, he might have meant to say: "deemed impossible", but he didn't.

Thank you. Jonas Vinther (talk) 20:04, 27 April 2014 (UTC)

The recording has been removed due to copyright violation, so no need to pay attention to this message anymore. Jonas Vinther (talk) 14:30, 13 June 2014 (UTC)

Secret?

Why is the section titled "Secret Microphone" when it clearly states that a microphone was perfectly visible on a table? 76.177.203.19 (talk) 17:02, 27 September 2014 (UTC)

This source by the Finnish Broadcasting Company says the microphone was placed on the luggage rack: [1]. --Joe Kaniini (talk) 20:17, 28 September 2014 (UTC)
For some years, the Damen family believed Thor secretly placed the microphone in the luggage rack, but it was later proved during the BKA investigation that the microphone was plainly visible and Thor simply continued to record the conversation; he did not switch the microphones. I have removed "Secret" from the section title. Jonas Vinther (speak to me!) 03:12, 10 January 2015 (UTC)

Content

There should be a discussion on the content of the conversation, taken it's mostly Hitler speaking there. But still we need to discuss it, perhaps link it properly. --41.145.240.124 (talk) 18:01, 11 October 2016 (UTC)

Wrong Citation of Presidents of Finland II

I'm not sure, but the entry 'Virkkunen, Sakari (1994). Presidents of Finland II. Helsinki, Otava. ISBN 978-3-8329-5609-7.' in the bibliography seems to be incorrect. The specified ISBN seems to belong to "Elections in Europe: A Data Handbook" by Dieter Nohlen and Philip Stöver. I assume the entry refers to "Suomen presidentit : 2, Kallio, Ryti, Mannerheim" (can be found here: http://urn.fi/URN:NBN:fi:bib:me:I00076792700), then it should be ISBN 9511132415, I think. I also couldn't find an English edition of this work, should the title then not be the original title as well? With the ISBN being wrong and the translated title it was difficult to find anything about the actual book online. Or is the book somehow included in "Elections in Europe"? I've changed the ISBN, but left the title as it is. TelefonmannAusLeidenschaft (talk) 13:29, 19 September 2021 (UTC)
