Compatibility Between this and Macintosh Wikipedia Widget[edit]

Plot[edit]

Different versions of the film[edit]

I've noticed there is more than one version of the film. The BluRay version has quite a few scenes changed. All in all, I'd say the BluRay version was an earlier edit, given that it doesn't seem as good. Has anyone else noticed this? Perhaps the two edits are intended for different audiences. British vs American perhaps? Although if that's the case I'm not sure which is meant for which. --Rebroad (talk) 10:56, 9 May 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Summary of differences noticed so far (2 is the BluRay version of the film):-

  • 1: "The pig doesn't get in", "what about me?", "I was talking about you!"
  • 1: Conversation about plastic surgery, Sidney jokes about having had a penis reduction.
  • 2: Sidney makes a joke about casting for a film called "Tits of Fury"
  • 2: More of the pig shown in the lift, and the pig shown urinating on a woman's shoes.
  • 1: Sidney is shown lighting a cigarette and throwing the lighter on the floor at his workplace.
  • 1: Miss Johnson arrives to see Mr Clayton while he's on the phone to Sidney with the job offer.
  • 2: Miss Taylor arrives to see Mr Clayton while he's on the phone to Sidney with the job offer.
  • 2: More of New York landscape shown.
  • 1: Sidney shown having only pounds not dollars in the taxi. He's dropped off early and the taxi driver calls him something rude.
  • 2: Sidney shown getting uncomfortable with the area he's being driven to (gunshots are heard).
  • 2: When being shown to his apartment, the landlady slaps him in the face in response to something he says.
  • 1: Clayton talks more about the "1st room".
  • 1: Uncomfortable Silence when he's supposed to leave the office after being told he's going to be working in the "eye spy" section.
  • 2: When Sidney is introduced as Clark Baxter, it's asked why he'd need an alias, and the reply is that he uses it when he's trying to date transexuals.
  • 1: On the roof of Soho House, N.Y., when Rachel goes up to Lawrence Baxter, she has to remind him what her name is.
  • 2: Sidney interviews musical comedy star and asks if he's Jewish and gay.
  • 1: Applause when Sidney leaves the office after being told off about the stripper.
  • 1: Scene where Sidney speaks to Rachael at the garden party and she blanks him.
  • 2: Sidney kicking the swing after Alison kicks him in the shin.
  • 1: Sidney driving Alison home and asking her for her address before driving to his place.
  • 1: Shot showing Sidney making breakfast before Alison walks into the room.
  • 1: Lawrence speaking to Sidney after hearing Alison is getting back together with him.
  • -: Sidney is sent a gift wrapped wrist watch to the office. Different watches in the two different edits!
  • 2: Lawrence telling Alison he needs to go out of town for work (hot new talent), and asking her to stop carrying her book around as it's embarrassing.
  • 2: At the very end of the film, the Alison's book is shown much more burnt before Sidney dives onto it.
  • 2: Assistant to Mr. Bridges is mentioned in the credits.

Unclear sentence[edit]

"Going to the ceremony the next day he sees Lawrence, now being someone he used to be, stating that he and Alison split as she was in love with him."

With all of these "he"s and "him"s, it's not clear at all what is meant in this sentence and I'd rather not have to go see the movie to understand this plot development.
