Fade-out in the video[edit]

At the end of the video, the stairs disappear, and then Deacon himself disappears, leaving only his hat floating above the staircase as the screen fades to black. This seems too elaborate to be a goof. CharonCaori 02:10, 28 March 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Freddie's wig[edit]

Also because he was losing his hair and generally looked ill. Wigs and makeup were essential at this point. Even for the few public appearances he made in the late 80's and early 90's, he would wear a considerable amount of make-up to conceal his gaunt appearance. Freddie Mercury was going bald as early as 1986, well before he had full blown AIDS (again, refer to Youtube videos of his concerts.) The baldness may have been hereditary. However, for the video "I Think I'm Going Slightly Mad," the wig was for theatrical effect -- he already had another toupee (which he wore on "These Are The Days of Our Lives," where makeup, black-and-white film, and damn good vocals on his part still could not hide the fact that he was a physically wasted wreck ....) Also on Youtube, you can find an appearance by Freddie (1990, accepting a "lifetime achievement" award) without his "rug."

AIDS-related dementia[edit]

For the record, Freddie Mercury died of AIDS-related pneumonia. If he had died of dementia he would not have been able to speak -- let alone sing. At best, someone with dementia will have slurred or unintelligible speech towards the end. Freddie Mercury, on the other hand, is known to have "A Winter's Tale" two weeks before is death and that song is fully intelligible (listen to it on Youtube.) Drugs references[edit]

It's obvious to anybody who actually listens to the lyrics of this song that it's about taking drugs (probably ecstasy) in clubs in the 1980s. This was played down in the accompanying video for understandable reasons. "I'm going slightly mad" is also a phrase very reminiscent of Kenny Everett, who was a good friend of Freddie Mercury at the time and a notorious indulger in chemical substances. It would improve the article if it covered this in some way, though I appreciate that common knowledge isn't the same thing as reliable sources. --Ef80 (talk) 00:47, 14 January 2013 (UTC)[reply]
