necessary improvements[edit]

I removed a good deal of promotional wording, and also some of the promotional and unnecessary internal and external links to various hotels where the events have been held, and various personalities who have been in some way associated with the project. There's a good deal still to go: I have strong doubts about the section of biography of the founders, and there is extensive duplication between the table listing events and the same events in paragraph format. There is also a great deal of what we call WP:COATRACK: using the article to make reference to multiple good causes. (Almost all of this is sourced only the the projects own press releases,and most of the other references are dependent on these press releases also)All of this needs to go, and I shall soon do it.

I thought very seriously about a speedy deletion as criterion G11, as a promotional article not capable of being made encyclopedic without extensive rewriting. However, since the project is after all notable and there are a few good non-local references, I decided to fix it, as I sometimes do. I don't like to see my work wasted, and if the promotional material is restored I will not work on it further, and certainly not start quarreling about it, but proceed with the regular deletion process, and then the community will decide what to do with it DGG ( talk ) 22:33, 20 April 2012 (UTC)[reply]
