Title, name of the band

[edit]

Despite it not being gramatically correct, I think the title of their band is I Dont Know How... My source is all of their videos on YouTube, where there stylised in all caps as I DONT KNOW HOW BUT THEY FOUND ME. This is also how they are listed on iTunes. Should it be changed? Iokerapid (talk) 01:37, 23 August 2019 (UTC)[reply]

I agree that any use of I Dont Know How But They Found Me should be changed to I DON'T KNOW HOW BUT THEY FOUND ME. It seems weird to write "I Dont Know How But They Found Me (stylized in all caps)" in the introduction when this could be simplified by just writing it in caps to begin with. The title of this article, the description, infobox, and caption have all taken care to omit the grammatically correct punctuation (apostrophe in DON'T and a comma after HOW) but still use Title Case for some reason. I've gone ahead and changed these as per WP:BOLD but an administrator will need to change the title. Duey (talk) 06:42, 29 October 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Potentially incorrect shortening

[edit]

Hello! I've noticed a possible typo in the article, talking about the shortening (IDKHow/IDKHOW)

The source mentions a website that stylises it as "IDKHOW", but the Album Art shows it as iDKHOW—as this is an official source of information, I think a modification to the page should be made to mention the alternate styling. Rabbithawk256 (talk) 20:45, 31 January 2022 (UTC)[reply]

@Rabbithawk256: Fixed. It should indeed state that it's stylized as "iDKHOW". Sekyaw (talk) 06:10, 1 February 2022 (UTC)[reply]

The Girlypop and Label debate.

[edit]

There’s been a lot of debate on the wiki on whether or not “Girlypop” would be a genre iDKHow should be listed under, to the point where the wiki is now protected. What would be a credible source of info for the wiki to have this listed?

We should also discuss whether or not the label “None You Jerk” should be listed under the label category. It was previously removed when put on the wiki, but Modern Day Cain was released under this label and the introduction track of their 1981 Extended Play mentions it is presented by None You Jerk records. Ferntheplant (talk) 20:16, 2 October 2022 (UTC)[reply]

It simply needs to be backed by a reliable source (see WP:SOURCE). Tweets from fan accounts are unreliable. Even if "girly pop" was properly sourced, because it isn’t an actual genre, it would be included in the 'Musical style' section and not be included in the band's infobox (ex: "hipster nonsense" and "Glam Wham" are sourced from the band's official Twitter). In regards to None You Jerk, I have readded it since it is indeed the label the band used when they were independent. Sekyaw (talk) 03:18, 5 October 2022 (UTC)[reply]

ryan stealing allegations

[edit]

as of right now, the band hasn't said anything about it. if someone is really desperate to get something in the wikipedia about the allegations right now, you could potentially make a "controversies" section with what's going on. however, there are no reliable sources at the moment and no reason to change the page to say ryan has been kicked out, since we do not know that for sure. at this moment, it is all speculation and assumptions. i really think we should wait until the band makes a statement. Hillsyism (talk) 18:55, 10 March 2023 (UTC)[reply]

i don’t think there needs to be a section created at all. because its all completely speculation and rumours, there’s no truly credible source that could be used. if they do release a statement, it would be better put into band history than its own section. I believe Dallon's Mother confirmed he stole 26,000 USD in songwriting royalties from Dallon but I have to find the source. Itisi5 (talk) 18:40, 25 March 2023 (UTC)[reply]
in a tweet from the official iDKHOW twitter it says that everything is "hunky-dory" Itisi5 (talk) 18:48, 25 March 2023 (UTC)[reply]
it could also be a publicity stunt but...

while i am aware of the twitter thread and allegations made by breezy’s mother and an ex-bandmate of ryan’s, until an official statement is made or it’s confirmed by one of the members of idkhow, it’s all speculation and rumours. Ferntheplant (talk) 06:48, 6 April 2023 (UTC)[reply]
Have you seen their social media? They removed him from everywhere, including song descriptions, even YouTube thumbnails. Take your head out of your arse. 96.225.74.15 (talk) 14:40, 12 April 2023 (UTC)[reply]

BTW whan did Ryan Private his Twitter Itisi5 (talk) 11:37, 20 April 2023 (UTC)[reply]
Ryan is still in youtube thumbnails 2A02:C7C:F824:8400:11B:9988:3767:6AF5 (talk) 20:51, 2 May 2023 (UTC)[reply]
it’s very likely he’s no longer with idkhow according the information we have but he hasn’t “officially” been kicked out or left yet. no one has said too much concrete but ryan seems to have disappeared from almost everything idkhow related and dallon has tweeted multiple things that touch on the issue in a roundabout way and imply he is not happy with ryan at all. it would be helpful to have an “unknown/unclear membership” category and have ryan in it listed as (2016-present?) to reflect the current available knowledge. there often isn’t ever a credible source for these type of things like bands unless they decide to do some sort of press release, which is usually only something much much bigger acts do. 69.14.221.80 (talk) 05:50, 14 June 2023 (UTC)[reply]
acknowledgment of allegations against ryan of theft and fraud should be allowed to be added to his page, as it is something decently major about him. sure, they are unconfirmed, but in the absence of confirmation they should at least be able to be addressed in such a way as saying “[xyz allegations] surfaced around [MM/YYYY]. since this has surfaced, [abc person] has been [whatever abc person’s known continued activity/presence is] ((which in this case is absent from and actively getting removed from anything idkhow related)). it is likely that [abc person] is/is no longer involved with/in [xxxx project], however their involvement officially remains unclear as of [CMM/CYYYY].” -69.14.221.80 Itisi5 (talk) 15:43, 30 August 2023 (UTC)[reply]
Ryan has officially left iDKHOW 2600:1004:B21F:271D:356E:972D:C20A:CED1 (talk) 01:28, 17 September 2023 (UTC)[reply]
He didn't "leave" he was kicked out. Itisi5 (talk) 16:35, 6 October 2023 (UTC)[reply]

ryan officially was kicked out idkhow, and it’s confirmed by dallon on a reply to a comment on TikTok he stole, someone asked ‘where’s the drummer?’ and dallon responded ‘fired for stealing’, so the ryan stealing allegations are true. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Kateitskate (talkcontribs) 17:37, 29 February 2024 (UTC)[reply]
