OR[edit]

Is this OR or a neology, never heard this term and I am a downstater originally. Prod? IvoShandor 03:40, 19 May 2007 (UTC)[reply]

I asked once, now I have tagged it, I can't find anything that confirms this information. I find use of the term but nothing even bordering on what is described here. The next step is suggested deletion, I will keep looking for sources in the meantime. IvoShandor 05:34, 28 October 2007 (UTC)[reply]
I can only tell you that I drove all day in a big loop around Illinois last weekend, and I heard this term used several times on the radio. Anytime I got near the border, the radio stations would say they were serving "Illiana." I had never heard the term before, but it seems pretty common amoungst the I-65, I-57, and I-74 folks. I looked it up here to see if it was a specific North/South region, or just anywhere along the border.Mingusboodle (talk) 21:37, 6 August 2008 (UTC)[reply]
FWIW, I just googled "Illiana" and got many, many hits. I haven't found any defined region, yet, just a long list of companies and organizations that serve both Indiana and Illinois. Mingusboodle (talk) 21:40, 6 August 2008 (UTC)[reply]

The term is fairly common in East Central Illinois, particularly around Danville. Not sure if it applies to the Chicago area, since it's usually called Chicagoland, also I don't know if it applies to extreme southern Illinois, as it is something of a tri-state region, possibly expanding to quint-state, if you include MO and TN. 98.212.243.45 (talk) 03:58, 30 July 2010 (UTC)[reply]
