Can we get a better screenshot...the current one shows a clearly inept rendering of wikipedia...Smallman12q (talk) 22:09, 8 February 2010 (UTC)[reply]

no! that is the reality! ie3 doesn't have support for so many standards that it doesn't able to handle the new standards. this site and also aothers are looking as bad ad this! mabdul 22:36, 8 February 2010 (UTC)[reply]
A better image would be of an archived version of wikipedia from IE3's time. Free Bullets (talk) 17:47, 16 January 2012 (UTC)[reply]
Wikipedia was born after IE3 time!--Luca Ghio (talk) 18:17, 16 January 2012 (UTC)[reply]
It's not inept, just reflecting standards and conventions of the time. The grey background was to indicate that the web page text could not be edited. A white background (like in the url field) signified editable text. It's Wikipedia that's inept, for not explicitly setting the background color to white.
Hello, guys. I just want to know why. I never saw any point of showing Wikipedia in a web browser's screenshot; it is not a good representative of the web browser's rendering capabilities. Besides, for non-free images like this, there is an infuriating bot that keeps coming along and chipping down the image to 352px, virtually leaving nothing from the subject of the article. (It would have not been so infuriating if it didn't impact the image quality so lamentably.) I say a take a screenshot of the top portion only.

Shdocvw.dll?

[edit]

I haven't touched the Shdocvw.dll information because it makes only a small amount of sense. I think the OP is confusing the version numbering of Shdocvw.dll as reflecting the iexplore.exe version number. Shdocvw.dll is a shell component and doesn't reflect the IE executive build. Consequently I think that the entire section on Shdocvw.dll should be removed as it's not relevant to IE3 versioning (i.e. the about box). C:Amie (talk) 15:31, 29 January 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Though it is in system files, the Microsoft source says "For Internet Explorer 3.0 through 6, the browser is implemented in the Shdocvw.dll (Shell Document Object and Control Library) file", so it is tightly related to Internet Explorer. For the table accuracy, there is a better table on the Italian Wikipedia; when I have time I will translate it.--Luca Ghio (talk) 11:41, 30 January 2012 (UTC)[reply]
