Truck Parking Time Limits

  Hello sir! I'm a professional driver with over 27 years of driving and have had my share of business/rest at many NJTP plazas in New
  
  Jersey over the years. Recently, I was informed by a New Jersey State Trooper that commercial vehicles are not allowed to stay in

  the travel plazas beyond 2 hours window. I thought this to be strange and unusual as many drivers including myself regularly pull

  in to get our mandatory rest when time expires especially with the electronic logs being implemented in many companies now.

  Knowing good & well that New Jersey has very few truck stops to completely handle the volume of truck traffic that flows through the

  State on a normal business day from the North to the Southern end, many drivers opt to pull in a travel plaza for safety and 

  convenience. This generally requires a minimum of 10hrs off duty time before a driver is allowed to resume their route according to

  Federal Highway Administration's Safety Manual.

  My question:  Is there a policy regarding to the length of time allowed to stay at the various travel plazas along the New Jersey

  Turnpike for Commercial vehicles when needing to get their rest to meet Federal guidelines? I would appreciate a response back as I

  have to confront this same State Trooper in Court in Cransbury Township within the next several days and I would like to be more 

  informed about the travel plazas and their respective rules/policies regarding such.
