Lists of near by things

[edit]

A reference for these distance figures needs to be provided or they should be removed. The numbers had to come from somewhere. Jbh (talk) 02:10, 8 March 2015 (UTC)[reply]

My edits

[edit]

I have removed a picture of a non-Wikipedia notable individual. This is an article about a place. I have also tagged two sections for copyright concerns. The material seems to be copy/pasted from the sites indicated. This is not permissible please see WP:COPYRIGHT. All material must be written in your own words and citations to the sources where the information was obtained must be included. Cheers. JbhTalk 20:29, 27 May 2015 (UTC)[reply]

As opposed to edit warring over tags. I have simply removed the material which seems to be copy/pasted from another source and stubbed the article. Please do not replace the material without citation to a reliable source and writing it in your own words. Copy/pasting material from other web sites is prohibited per WP:COPYRIGHT. Thank you for your understanding. JbhTalk 21:55, 27 May 2015 (UTC)[reply]

This article seems to be stitched together by copy/pasting from a couple of sources. JbhTalk 21:05, 27 May 2015 (UTC)[reply]

Admin help

[edit]

An editor keeps inserting an inappropriate picture of an unknown person into this article. They also kept removing tags about copyright concern but seem to have stopped after I stubbed the article, their concern seems to be insertion of this picture. I have tried engaging them on this talk page, their user talk page and through edit summaries but I have had no response. Now they are editing while logged out. Unlike the copyright issues this seems to be merely an issue of promotion and I am unwilling to edit war over it. Please help. Thank you. JbhTalk 10:25, 28 May 2015 (UTC)[reply]

I've blocked the user for serial copyright violations. The photo being warred over is also, incidentally, a copyvio. Yunshui  12:44, 28 May 2015 (UTC)[reply]
@Yunshui: Thank you. I did not even think to check the image, I should have. Is there anything better than Google Image Search and TinEye? I just checked and it only shows up on Wikipedia via TinEye. JbhTalk 12:54, 28 May 2015 (UTC)[reply]
I'm actually just looking in to that. A previous version of the image is copyvio tagged on Commons, but it turns out that the nominator hasn't given a source. His other pictures do seem to have been clear copyvios (I was able to find the sources fairly easily); this one almost certainly is (based on the image), but I haven't found it yet. OK, Thank you. JbhTalk 13:08, 28 May 2015 (UTC)[reply]
