[edit]Unfortunately, much of the article's text appears to be lifted from the very link it points to at the bottom... http://janus.lib.cam.ac.uk/db/node.xsp?id=EAD%2FGBR%2F0014%2FCLVL 128.95.223.182 21:16, 17 May 2006 (UTC)
- It does seem as if someone cut and pasted our catalogue description of the Colville collection into this Wikipedia entry. However, now that we (Churchill Archives Centre) have ventured into the world of Wikipedia ourselves -- attempting to contribute to the articles which relate to material we house in the archives -- may I just add that it is fine for Wikipedia users to use our catalogues as a source of information. And though I do say so myself, they are a fairly decent source since they are based upon the actual papers of the individuals whom they describe. Of course, it is ideal if users rewrite things to better suit the style of Wikipedia, since catalogue writing is markedly different.

Name
[edit]The name "Colville" sounds French. Was he nicknamed "Jock" as an anglicization of "Jacques"?Lestrade (talk) 03:52, 25 May 2010 (UTC)Lestrade
Jock Colville date of death
[edit]Dear All,
I'm not very Wikiliterate, so haven't yet learned how to add footnotes indicating sources for claims made. But I have managed to clarify Jock Colville's exact date of death on the basis on his New York Times obituary which is online here:
http://www.nytimes.com/1987/11/22/obituaries/sir-john-colville-72-secretary-to-churchill.html
The article states that he died on "Thursday", which fell the previous week on the 19th.
If anyone who knows how to do these things wants to add a link, that would be great. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 212.139.225.233 (talk) 13:22, 11 February 2012 (UTC)
