There are disputes that he was a sub-announcer for Wheel of Fortune during its early years, but this has not been confirmed.

bcz it doesn't sound like a notable fact in the context of his bio -- or in any context but obsessive fan-cruft. Further, my research has turned up no hint of what a "sub-announcer" is; it is used a handful of times in WP as a barebones description and does not appear in Wiktionary or a Webster's Collegiate. The contexts suggest it is not the equivalent of "substitute announcer", a term it shares on his IMDb page. With a verifiable definition or explanation, it probably can be used in WP, but at present it is as useful in our articles as "whatchamacallit".
_ _ FWIW, it should be noted that that IMDb article includes

"Wheel of Fortune" (1975) TV Series .... Sub-announcer (1975)

(meaning the show began in '75, and he appeared on it either (not sure which) in '75 or in the '75(-'76) season). If there is a credible dispute with IMDb's version, the article would have to say what circumstances render unreliable that high-resource site. (They can afford to look at libraried videotapes to see which announcers were credited, and compare voices in the unlikely case that there are two announcers with the same name.)

This article needs some serious reorganizing... I will try to divide it into sections and locate some more data, but I may need some help.--Coingeek (talk) 00:59, 1 April 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Orphaned references in John Harlan (announcer)

[edit]

I check pages listed in Category:Pages with incorrect ref formatting to try to fix reference errors. One of the things I do is look for content for orphaned references in wikilinked articles. I have found content for some of John Harlan (announcer)'s orphans, the problem is that I found more than one version. I can't determine which (if any) is correct for this article, so I am asking for a sentient editor to look it over and copy the correct ref content into this article.

Reference named "imdb":

I apologize if any of the above are effectively identical; I am just a simple computer program, so I can't determine whether minor differences are significant or not. AnomieBOT 21:18, 24 April 2010 (UTC)[reply]
