John Hilton (composer) → John Hilton (the younger) (composer) – The composer referred to on this page is the son of another composer of the same name, known as John Hilton (the elder). The change is proposed to remove the ambiguity prior to creating a new page for the other composer. I have already edited the disambiguation page, so the change will also repair what is now a broken link. I was going to move the page myself, but it seems I don't yet have the wherewithall to do this. Gavin.oddy (talk) 15:59, 5 October 2011 (UTC)
- Oppose, sorry. Two reasons: (1) we rarely, if ever, use double brackets in article titles – it just doesn't look good. And (2) we don't preemptively disambiguate – there is no article on John Hilton (the elder), so there is nothing to disambiguate. Once someone creates an article for him, then we should revisit this request (and my suggested titles would be John Hilton (the younger) and John Hilton (the elder)), but not before. - Comment why not John Hilton, the younger (composer) instead of your double brackets? 70.24.247.61 (talk) 13:15, 6 October 2011 (UTC)

move
[edit]I was bold and moved this page to "John Hilton the younger" in order to better reflect his relationship with John Hilton the elder. There's no need to disambiguate these titles by using "(composer)" in them, although John Hilton (composer) still redirects to the younger, who is the most well known. I also chose not to use parentheses around (the younger)/(the erlder), in line with other similar articles (Alfonso Ferrabosco the elder/Alfonso Ferrabosco the younger and Thomas Lupo the elder, for example). capmo (talk) 17:14, 14 September 2012 (UTC)
