Clarifications[edit]

I corrected a few things in the article - the award is for writers of both SF and fantasy, not just SF, for instance. I also tried to make the text more Encyclopedic and moved the links to the bottom. VJDocherty 16:46, 26 February 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Naming[edit]

Is it correct to refer to the award as the Astounding Award when specifically referring to winners before it was renamed? I'd think it would be more accurate and clear to talk about the Campbell award in those cases. Putting "the [year] Astounding Award (then called the John W. Campbell Award)" each time seems clumsy. Very happy to refer to it as the Astounding Award in generic cases, but it seems to me that in, say, 2017, the winner specifically received the Campbell Award. Author category[edit]

If this name change stays, then the pages with this category should presumably also be updated? https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Category:John_W._Campbell_Award_for_Best_New_Writer_winners

I dunno if there's functionality/tooling to make this easier than manually updating 40-odd pages individually? ErsatzCulture (talk) 23:46, 2 September 2019 (UTC)[reply]

Eligibility - When is a writer not New ?[edit]

The Eligibility and voting section reports that the given criteria for an author to be eligible are specifically defined ... but says nothing about when a writer is or is not "New". Given that more than one writer has been nominated in more than one year, it would be interesting to know.

Done. (Writers are eligible for two years, beginning with their first professional sf/f sale.) Dan Bloch (talk) 22:07, 2 August 2020 (UTC)[reply]
