Macrons

[edit]

I have added macrons to mentions of Mataira's name, and moved the article to Kāterina Mataira, as per the Te Taura Whiri i te Reo Māori/Guidelines for Māori Language Orthography, published by the Māori Language Commission. Section Three — Proper Names (p. 13) states: "As with all other Māori words, Te Taura Whiri i te Reo Māori recommends that macrons be used to indicate long vowels in names, where they are known." The guidelines go on to state that macrons should not be used if the person chooses not to spell their name with macrons, or if it could cause offence to the person, but as macrons are commonly used in spelling her name, and she is dead, these exceptions do not apply ([1] [2]). Please feel free to disagree and discuss. TimofKingsland (talk) 04:16, 26 July 2012 (UTC)[reply]
