Merger proposal
[edit]This article and KAMU-FM are both stubs and refer to the same organization, so I think that one unified article named KAMU could be sufficient.EagleAg04 (talk) 05:29, 30 June 2008 (UTC)
- Given the WP:SILENCE, I will be merging these articles into KAMU. EagleAg04 (talk) 16:39, 12 July 2008 (UTC)
Split proposal
[edit]Standard practice for licensed broadcast stations that are not pure simulcasts is for each station to have its own article. Given that these are not even the same type of broadcast station, I can't see a compelling reason not to split them. That each by itself might be shorter than a combined article is true but not a compelling reason not to perform the split. Each article can certainly refer to the other but each should stand on its own. - Dravecky (talk) 01:54, 19 September 2008 (UTC)
- Oppose The radio and TV stations here are part of the same organization, and are not independent entities. This article is not nearly long enough to require a split right now, so I think that a single article representing the entire organization is more useful than a disambiguation page at KAMU. As an example, WGBH was not split until long after it was much larger than this article is now. EagleAg04 (talk) 04:44, 19 September 2008 (UTC)
Proposed splitting of KAMU
[edit]Copied from User talk:Mlaffs
Could you please give your reasons for WP:SPLITTING the KAMU article? Thanks. EagleAg04 (talk) 02:18, 18 September 2008 (UTC)
- Yeah, I should have noted something on the article's talk page. Of course, if I had, I would have seen that you'd only recently had a discussion about merging the two articles on which nobody bothered to comment :>)! My rationale is that an article on each of the two stations would be notable on their own. Although they may only be stubs at this point, there are two separate wikiprojects — WP:TVS and WP:WPRS — that are focused on maintaining and improving articles like these. Mlaffs (talk) 02:30, 18 September 2008 (UTC)
- Would you mind holding off until one of the sections is long enough to justify its own article? There should be no problem with the same article being covered by multiple Wikiprojects, as this happens on many of the articles in Wikipedia. I also prefer the current article structure over a redirect page, since KAMU is the actually name of the organization that operates both stations. EagleAg04 (talk) 04:17, 18 September 2008 (UTC)
- Since there's been another opinion added, I'm going to copy this conversation over to the article's talk page. Mlaffs (talk) 03:47, 19 September 2008 (UTC)
- I may not have been clear enough. I wasn't suggesting that having two Wikiprojects covering the article was a problem. Quite the contrary - more that each stub would be attached to a project and have a better chance of getting improved. I also wasn't thinking a redirect - I was envisioning a disambiguation page here at KAMU, and then separate articles at KAMU-FM and KAMU-TV. I'm not especially fussed either way, and I wouldn't do anything without a consensus, but I do agree with Dravecky that separate articles would be more inline with usual practice.
