NPOV

[edit]

Khalid Sheikh Mohammed was described as an "Islamic terrorist". That is a violation of WP:NPOV. The man is a suspected terrorist. He has not yet been tried, let alone convicted. It is not our place to label him a terrorist.

While it is true he confessed to multiple crimes, he did so only after he had been subjected to some of the most extreme torture ever documented. And it is a matter of public record that at least some of those confessions were unsupportable. For instance, at times DoD and DoJ have touted his confession to being the hooded figure who decapitated US journalist Daniel Pearl -- even though Pakistani courts already convicted another man for that crime.

When and if he has been convicted "suspected" can be removed. Even then, I am not sure he should be characterized as an "Islamic terrorist". Isn't that one of the so-called "political dog whistles"? If and when he is convicted I suggest better alternatives to "islamic terrorist" would be:

  1. convicted terrorist;
  2. jihadist terrorist;
  3. salafist terrorist;
  4. or just terrorist.

I changed his entry to read "suspected terrorist". Geo Swan (talk) 11:40, 27 March 2017 (UTC)[reply]
