[edit]The text "European idea" links to Europe, which isn't very helpful. What's this European idea that the Charlemagne award promotes?

What on earth is this?
[edit]Shall we have a Napoleon, or an Adolf Hitler prize? Charlemagne was a brutal conqueror. TharkunColl 23:27, 22 June 2007 (UTC)
Zelenskyy?
[edit]When was this announced? I'm not seeing anything (including the prize's website) saying he got it. --Joshmaul (talk) 13:46, 30 September 2022 (UTC)
- I find no reference to it either. According to the prize's website, the Belorusian opposition activists got the 2022 prize, while no prize was awarded in 2021. This should be corrected. TKSnaevarr (talk) 14:29, 7 October 2022 (UTC)
- It appears President Zelenskyy and to the People of Ukraine was awarded the 2023 Prize: https://www.karlspreis.de/en/news/charlemagne-prize-2023 but he is yet to be listed as a laureate: https://www.karlspreis.de/en/laureates . I am not sure if the "Currently Held By" value should be updated to be Zelenskyy and the Ukranian people or if we should wait until he is listed as a laureate. Also, I'm not sure if Demographics of Ukraine or Ukranians could constitute "the People of Ukraine" or something else? Ieeemember (talk) 21:31, 14 May 2023 (UTC)
