[edit]

If you add an article for a very specific gun of interest mostly to collectors, a nice big licensable color picture is a big help.

Safety

[edit]

By the way, does this thing have a magazine safety, so that you can't fire it with the magazine removed? And can you unload it with the safety on? Those are the classic M1911 problems. --John Nagle 01:39, 12 April 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Since the Kimber Eclipse is a type of M1911, the safety lever prevents the slide from moving, so a round can not be removed from the chamber when the safety lever is engaged. Also, the gun does have the capability of firing when the magazine is removed. However, those are features, not problems. -- Mudwater 13:18, 1 March 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Moving "Kimber Eclipse Target II" to "Kimber Eclipse".

[edit]

I am renaming this article, from "Kimber Eclipse Target II" to "Kimber Eclipse". Per Wikipedia:WikiProject Firearms#Variants, "Variants of a model of a firearm such as folding/telescoping stock variants, target versions, variants chambered in a new caliber, compact/carbine variants generally should not receive their own article. Instead, use a section for the variant in the parent firearm's article or consolidate it into a table or the text." The Kimber Eclipse Target II is a variant of the Kimber Eclipse, and therefore should be part of a more inclusive "Kimber Eclipse" article which will be created by the rename. — Mudwater 03:40, 9 December 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Ad template

[edit]

Recently an Ad template ("This article is written like an advertisement. Please help rewrite this article from a neutral point of view....") was added to the article by anonymous editor 68.148.13.235 (talkcontributions). I'm removing the template, on the basis that the article is not written like an ad, and does have a neutral point of view. Most of the article is simply a neutrally worded description of the different features of the gun. It also says that the gun "won Shooting Industry magazine's "Academy of Excellence" award for Handgun of the Year," but that also is just a fact. I have made one minor change to make the article even more neutral, by removing the word "tough" from a description of the gun's finish. If any editor thinks that the article is written like an ad, please explain why in this talk page section, and/or fix the article. Thanks. Mudwater (Talk) 11:11, 28 May 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Okay, I've also taken out the word "premium" from the description of the trigger. The trigger is premium, and the finish is tough, but it's probably better to err on the side of caution when going for the neutral point of view. Mudwater (Talk) 12:28, 28 May 2009 (UTC)[reply]
