Merge

[edit]

Please don't merge these articles! I'd suggest doing the opposite: Leave kiosk with the first two definitions and move the third part to Internet kiosk or wherever. <KF> 23:45, August 22, 2005 (UTC)

I fully agree with what KF said. Rl 07:32, 23 August 2005 (UTC)[reply]
Or wherever?.. kiosk these days means checking in at the airport (ie check-in kiosk) or getting money (ATM) or buying a ticket (ticketing kiosk). I recommend highlighting the archaic as archaic and then branching to electronic kiosks and building structure underneath that one (and include internet kiosks, or bill pay kiosks, or ticketing kiosks, etc/etc...7/2008 ck

kiosk in israel

[edit]

Can someone please write about the kiosk culture in israel at the fourth aliyah ? Kiosk in India is a kind of booth generally known by Ghumti or Thadi or Tapra. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 144.36.255.120 (talk) 11:05, 21 June 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Suggestions for kiosk in general

[edit]

Good to see information about archaic kiosks (buildings where news distributed). Question is what is best: talking about kiosks (electronic) that are relevant and used primarily and subjugating the archaic?

Archaic buildings like that (and POP fixtures in malls for that matter) are relevant but focusing on them tends to communicate that they are predominant, and they are not.

Also -- the subpages like Internet Kiosk should be about internet kiosks. The internet kiosk page for the last 4 years has mutated into a everything you need to know about kiosks in general and relatively nothing about internet kiosks (ie pay for use cybercafes of which there are 10s of thousands in China. Maybe we don't want to talk about those? —Preceding unsigned comment added by Ckeefner (talkcontribs) 03:05, 27 July 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Ckeefner (talk) 04:45, 11 November 2008 (UTC)Can we please reorient this page so that the archaic "kiosk" is secondary to the modern? What is the point of view on this?[reply]

[edit]

I came here because I wanted to read up on the situation between vendors of DVDs who operate out of a "booth" (presumably having something to do with monopolistic trade practices) and the recent bankruptcy reorganization going on in California. (It may have something to do with an economic contest between Blockbuster Video and some other similar firm).

All I have to work with, is the word "kiosk" (which the main article does an excellent job confusing me about).

Isn't a kiosk just an Eastern European way of saying booth? Dexter Nextnumber (talk) 20:16, 2 November 2009 (UTC)[reply]

For the Middle Persian Argument, cf. Mackenzie, D.N.: A Concise Pahlavi Dictionary. London: Oxford Univ. Press, 1971, p. 51 or ask in the next Kiosk.

Iranian Kiosk

[edit]

Add some examples of Iranian Kiosks such as the Qazvin Chehelsotun or Hasht Behesht. Salazar the terrible (talk) 13:06, 15 January 2023 (UTC)[reply]
