Riots

I'm no expert, but I think there is a problem with this sentence:

"There were riots at performances of his later works, orchestrated by Nazi party members."

As written, it is not clear whether the Nazi party orchestrated the riots or the performances. The former seems more likely, but I really don't know; it could be either. Could someone clean this up? --Cladist 07:14, Jan 27, 2005 (UTC)

"German-born American composer"

He did a lot of his best work while he was still a German citizen. Perhaps this should say "German, later American, composer"? - Jmabel | Talk 21:11, 1 November 2006 (UTC)

Weill himself would have said "American composer," as he fiercely rejected Germany and its culture and (obviously) politics when he emigrated. Perhaps it would be best to explain this somewhere in the entry and define him as you suggest ("German, later American"), because "German-born American" will mislead those who don't know the Weill saga. (Such as his insisting on pronouncing his last name "While" rather than the original "Vial.") - Fred Lane 18:24, 13 December 2006 (UTC)

Civil service

The link to civil service seems a bit odd: the linked article is on the general concept of civil service (as against, for example, the spoils system), whereas this article is talking specifically about homefront civilian service in wartime. - Jmabel | Talk 22:19, 1 November 2006 (UTC)

Kurt Weill Festival

Article improvements

First, let me say that I am appalled that this article is devoid of references. Surely, this is not a composer about whom it is difficult to find information. Considering how short the article is, references should not be all that difficult.

Second, the opening needs to be rewritten. Specifically, it is not necessary to list so many artists who have recorded Weill's work. A choice list of 3-5 diverse artists who have recorded Weill songs would be fine, with Weill's popularity amongst contemporary musicians addressed in a section entitled Weill's impact, or something akin.

Discography question

Hello, is the discography section of this article meant to be comprehensive, or is it intended as more of a sample of what recordings are out there? I'm asking because I own a recording of Weill songs by Ute Lemper which isn't listed, and I know that there have to be more recordings around than what is on this list. No, the discography is not complete. As with most artists, a complete discography would have to be contained in a separate article altogether. It is one of many improvements that need to be made in future. ---RepublicanJacobite_{The'FortyFive'} 01:43, 20 November 2007 (UTC)

A complete discography would be valuable, not least because of the changes in performance style since the 1920s, however it would probably be best to do it work by work, opera by opera, with a kind of 'remainder' discography here.
