Cashin's biography, the most recent and researched says that he died at Dunmaglass, but gives no source. There is a draft of a testament, written at Rosevalley House, in Strathnairn downhill from Croy, which is a location associated with his kinsman, Farquhar MacGillivray of Dalcrombie, who probably built Rosevalley House, which is in the Inverness burgh books.86.138.156.74 (talk) 12:35, 21 August 2015 (UTC)[reply]

McGillivray was from the Highlands where there was no "Presbyterian tradition". The Highlands remained largely Roman Catholic.
