Lake Saint Clair (North America) is the WP:PRIMARY use for the term "Lake St. Clair"; with 430 sq mi (1,114 km2), it is the largest of the items listed on Lake Saint Clair (disambiguation) (it is followed by Lake St Clair (Tasmania), 10 times smaller); other items are red links or minor reservoirs. The American lake "aspires" to a status of a Great Lake; it is located in a highly populated area of Canada and US border and has a rather great significance. Relevant counts:

The primary concern of the proposal is to determine primary use; I offer no particular opinion on "Saint" vs. "St." vs. "St"; my impression is that "St." is the dominantly used form to refer to the (American) lake, but we should certainly be open to other variants.
