Blackpool F.C.

[edit]

My source has Blackpool winning the "Combination" in 1899-00 during their season out of the League. Is this "Combination" possibly a different competition? - Dudesleeper · Talk 19:44, 7 June 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Blackpool won the Lancashire League in 1899-00, not "The Combination" (also known as "The Old Combination") - that was won by Chirk that season. Either way, it is not directly connected with the Lancashire Combination, which was won by Liverpool res in the season in question. - fchd 19:52, 7 June 2007 (UTC)[reply]
Any chance you can link me to a web page stating as much? It's annoying to have a reference state that Blackpool won the Combination yet might be incorrect in doing so. - Dudesleeper · Talk 17:37, 13 June 2007 (UTC)[reply]
Only one of my own pages - from the FCHD - I can send by email tables of the leagues concerned. I did make a mistake however above, Blackpool were 3rd in the Lancashire League as you state below, behind Stockport County and Stalybridge Rovers. - fchd 21:05, 13 June 2007 (UTC)[reply]
I tracked down the anonymous edit, when Liverpool's reserves were added as champions for 1899-00, and added a citation request accordingly. Blackpool aren't even mentioned in the list of competitors, which is strange. - Dudesleeper · Talk 14:40, 14 June 2007 (UTC)[reply]
The Lancashire League article lists Stockport as the champions in 1899-00. - Dudesleeper · Talk 22:04, 7 June 2007 (UTC)[reply]
Scratch that. I now see there's a Lancashire League (soccer) article as well. - Dudesleeper · Talk 22:09, 7 June 2007 (UTC)[reply]
