Notable?!
[edit]Landi Kotal is the home of the Shinwari tribe, which is made up of eight clans: the Pero khel, Mirdad khel, Khuga khel, Faatmi khel, Sheikmal khel, Zakha khel, Wali khel, and the Sultan khel. The natives live in mountain villages, two of the more notable ones being Chinar Kaley (which is known for the sizeable wall that was built for the safety of the residents) and Ayub Kale (which is the most modern of the local villages, and was build by a wealthy member of the Khyber Agency.
What is noteworthy about this paragraph? Even as a stub, more is required here. I can believe that the stub itself could be established as notable, but the eight different local clans and the bit about the wall? Please help me understand why this is important. Nswinton 22:03, 12 April 2007 (UTC)
What type of entity is this exactly?
[edit]It contains several villages and "is the highest point on the Khyber Pass", but what is it? __meco (talk) 15:30, 7 September 2008 (UTC)
- It is a town that lies on highest point of the Khyber Pass. I have rewritten the article a little and added stuff to and - and removed all that stuff about villages in the lead section. Pahari Sahib 17:19, 7 September 2008 (UTC)
- That makes the article more coherent, certainly, but this is the removed text: "The natives live in mountain villages, two of the more notable ones being Chinar Kaley (which is known for the sizeable wall that was built for the safety of the residents) and Ayub Kaley, which is the most modern of the local villages and was built by a wealthy member of the Khyber Agency." Is this merely made-up then? __meco (talk) 20:14, 7 September 2008 (UTC)
- It's about villages near the town, but shouldn't really be in the town article. Pahari Sahib 12:41, 8 September 2008 (UTC)
Please don't move to Landikotal
[edit]Landi Kotal are two separate words. Please don't move it to Landikotal. Adnanrail (talk) 18:16, 17 June 2013 (UTC)

Note plz
[edit]This article says that Landi Kotal was over run by the Afridis in 1897 but later relieved by Gen Lockhart and that it was "again" occupied by the Afridis during the second Anglo-Afghan War. How could that be ? The second Anglo-Afghan took place before 1880-81 . I dont remember the exact dates sorry. Do you mean the third Anglo-Afghan war of 1919-1920? Kindly correct /clarify thanks . 182.177.197.47 (talk) 13:51, 18 February 2024 (UTC) Ifti Malik
