Definition
[edit]While this description works for ships, it should probably be expanded to include recreational vessels. A lazarette is a locker, generally aft of the cockpit, for storing fenders, life jackets, life rafts, and cruising gear like fuel jugs, inflatable boats and outboard engines. On many modern boats, the accommomdations extend to the transom, thus limiting the depth or volume of the lazarette. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Chuckhawley (talk • contribs) 18:54, 28 December 2011 (UTC)
